  • Share a Little Magic (VIDEO)
    It's the "Share a Little Magic" month for Big Brothers, Big Sister of Prince George.

    The agency is in need of volunteers with 15 boys and four girls on the wait list for mentors. They join 130 agencies across the country in recognizing individuals who help children by volunteering.There are varying levels of commitment ranging from one hour a week up to four hours a week. Big Brothers, Big Sisters has been working in this community for over 30 years.

  • CNC Nurses Graduate (VIDEO)
    After a grueling 49 weeks, 32 students have graduated from the practical nursing program at CNC.  More than a third have already lined up interviews
    in Northern Health and, with the advances of health care in the North, more are expected.

  • Long Weekend Road Safety (VIDEO)
    The long weekend means increased traffic on the highways across BC.

    RCMP will be increasing their presence  throughout the region, looking for aggressive drivers who are endangering other motorists. Sgt Pat McTiernan says police enforcement strategies are focused around reducing the number of crashes and injuries along highways. So if you plan to drive aggressively, be prepared to face the consequences.

  • Changes to Labour Movement (VIDEO)
    The Labour Day weekend is upon us - and the tradition dates back to April 1872.

    That's when a parade was staged in support of the Toronto Topographical Union's strike. On July 23, 1894, Canadian Prime Minister John Thompson and his government made Labour Day, to be recognized on the first Monday in September, an official holiday. Over the years, however, there has been tremendous change to the Labour Movement.

  • School Ready for Class (VIDEO)
    Heather Park School is about to become the largest elementary school in District 57.  With  students from the former Austin Road and Springwood Elementary Schools, enrollment is expected to hit close to 700 students.

  • Steelworkers Sign Contract Agreements
    The Steelworkers Union has reached four-year contracts with the Hampton Group in Burns Lake, the Conifex Group in Mackenzie and Fort St. James and Lakeland Mills in Prince George. President of Local 1-424 Frank Everitt says the contracts include two percent wage increases in the third and fourth years of the contract as well as a chance to profit-sharing with the mills.
